Horta Vermelha is fully Licensed and Registered as “Country Cottages/Rural Tourism” with no. 673 RNT, Portuguese Tourism Board. We are a family owned micro/small business, based in Portugal. You have more about us in ‘About us/Our story’ link in the top menu.

Personal data that we collect and why

Mails, contact forms and other messages

When visitors contact us via email, contact forms or other messages we collect only the necessary data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. We use such data exclusively for communication between us and the guest.

Bookings

When visitors book a cottage, we collect the personal booking data necessary for an effective and protected booking for both parties. This also helping us to contact the guest during the payment and accommodation preparation, as well as keeps our bookings records updated for any formal inspection from the National Tourism Board, the National Financial Authority, or the National Economic and Food Safety Authority (ASAE). On-line, we also register the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

On-line reviews on our site

All reviews on our site have been left in writing or sent by guests via email. All have been authorised by the respective guests. No personal data or media is publicly shared on our site. These reviews are important for future guests.

The guests’ reviews published on our site are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise such reviews.

For users that book with us on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile, for formal inspection purposes. Website administrators can see the guests personal information, and edit it if required by the guest.

What rights you have over your data

If you have booked with us, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How we protect your data

Our site, messages and the respective booking data are stored in protected servers, via a dedicated third party provider. Such provider is responsible for data protection, back-up and data breach.

What third parties we receive data from

We receive data from known third party booking platforms, only for our own booking purposes, in case a guest books a Cottage through them. Such parties manage their own privacy policy with their Clients.
