We will surely recommend Horta Vermelha to others, and maybe even return some day! This will only be stopped by the fact that there are so many nice places to visit in the world, so chances that we return to the same place are limited, but your place is certainly very high on the "return-to" list. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Thank you for your attention and kindness throughout the process. In fact, we were all pleasantly surprised by the condition of the cottages, good taste and the shown friendliness. One realizes that your project was implemented with great passion and professionalism. Overall I would like to congratulate you and wish the best of success for the future. At this stage of hard times, examples like "Horta Vermelha" makes me more optimistic for the future. Regards, Zé Pedro, Carolina, Daniela and Vasco
A Portuguese Family
We loved it! Your Horta Vermelha is in fact a wonderful place. We long for it, truly. We were very kindly felt welcomed by Cláudia, who is of a fantastically nice friend, and we loved everything, from the cottage to the farm, the quietness, your welcome basket. Everything, really. I'm sure that we will be back, this winter.

When we arrived here, we thought we had reached heaven! This is a hidden treasure - very rare to find (especially when travelling and booking from overseas!). We have come here from Canada for our first visit to Portugal, and this will have some of our fondest memories, indeed! Peace and quiet, yet friendly and plenty to do and see in the surrounding towns and areas. Some things we have done while here to recommend are: watching the cows and sheep come down the hills with a glass of wine! (...)

Bonjour. We enjoyed our stay in your house. Everything was fine! The flowers were in full bloom. The location is ideal to visit the villages around. I recommend it!

It was a pleasure. I loved opening the closet in the morning and smell the lavender! I've adopted the system and now my closets have sachets with lavender to remind me of the holidays, all along the year 🙂 We really enjoyed being in Horta Vermelha and recommend it.
2 adults and 3 children from Lisbon
Now back to Lisbon , I make use of this message to firstly congratulate you for the excellent work you have carried out in Horta Vermelha, most notably in the delightful "Sobreira Cottage". Our stay gave us all (children and grandmother included) moments of great calm and of a rare treat. The only "but" is that it has been a for a few days. We were really enamoured with the special charm of "Sobreira Cottage". It incidentally seems to me, being a direct descendant of the Alto-Alentejo region, to have been renovated and prepared with great respect and great affection for the traditional architecture of our region. So we hope to return soon, preferably with friends, as soon as circumstances permit. Again our thanks for everything, also for the invaluable help provided by you for the preparation of our trip and stay.

We love the space (that's why we came back this year): the good taste of the interior design of the houses well in the rustic style of the typical Alentejo 'monte'; the fact that it's a small private and closed farm, but we don't see "the fences" and therefore also keep the illusion of the Alentejo horizon without limits; the fact that it has an orchard and a stream at the back, cooling the hot air; the fact of being received by very, very nice people (Cláudia is a sweetheart! Helpful and friendly, making herself present and absent in the appropriate measure); the reception with the jams and cakes from the region; the fact that there is no television and there is wi-fi :-)....We really enjoyed the evenings and the dinners at the small outside table (it was there that a gust of wind blew the towel over the anti-insect candle... 🙁 ), the sun and the moonlight next to the irrigation tank transformed into a small and refreshing swimming pool. When we think Alentejo, we think Horta Vermelha. Frankly good and certainly to be repeated!
A Portuguese family from Porto, with children and a happy dog
We would gladly like to share our experience during our stay from June 10th till June 18th in Horta Vermelha. We enjoyed the sound of the sheep, the smell of the lavender and other herbs, birds singing and mostly the peace and quietness. We had a very warm welcome from Claudia, a very nice person. There was also a basket complete with goodies for breakfast, which we really did enjoy. There was hardly a need to do the cooking because the restaurants in Borba served good and tasty foods. Especially Vila Branca. Very kind and helpful personnel, something we experience with all Portuguese till now. We often visit Portugal because of the warm and lovely people and we discovered Borba as another place to be especially Horta Vermelha.

Horta Vermelha is a corner of nature where you immediately feel your heart rate slowing down, to naturally adjust to the rhythms and sounds around: birds, cicadas, roosters, water, wind. It's the perfect place to breathe, (re)balance, rest, (re)think and live in a simpler and pure form. Our 15 months-old baby learned to like a "swimming-pool" in a simple tank, in the middle of the field, even with cold running water, no chlorine, no "blue" water and no more fun. She learned to like freshly picked blackberries on the edge of the brook. She learned to like figs in the shade of the fig tree. Our 13 years-old daughter never asked for television or internet. She read a book during that week, played cards, took too many baths and strolled her sister in the farm.We left the Horta to lunch in one of the surrounding towns or villages and do a new little sightseeing tour every day. But we spent most of the time at home to enjoy the peace and privacy that we had there. I would like to come back during another season, to be able to experience other tones, other flavours and other sounds! I enjoy the idea of being able to be inside the cosy cottage, with a lit stove in the living room and the cold outside. Thank you for having this space available. See you soon!

Yes, our stay at Horta Vermelha was excellent. We loved the peaceful and graceful surroundings, and the people we met in Borba were very friendly and open. Unfortunately (or fortunately !), the weather was so hot, so walking was limited to a couple of hours in the cool of the early mornings. We did venture out on one of your walks, but had to turn back when the heat became too much. Oh well – just had to find a quiet bit of shade and curl up with a book! I would love to visit again in the cooler months, and by car, so that we could explore the area more fully. Maybe if we are able, we will try to come again in the springtime. Thanks very much for everything.
